Artist Statement

As a native of the Allegheny Valley, I am drawn to the melding of landscapes and industries, which are indicative of the area. Environments that have been adapted to industry are expressed through gestural clay forms, photographic imagery and layered slips. Engineered images of the Allegheny River are combined with photographs of Allegheny Ludlum and the surrounding towns, inferring a private connection and adaptation to the landscapes. Environments and Environment have a strong influence on my sculptural ceramic work and the intent is for the viewer to see a landscape touched by industry and portrayed in clay and photography.
